WELLBEING

DINING CHOICES

Nutrition is an important part of maintaining health and wellbeing for our residents. As such, we see the provision of food at meal times as vitally important and we are constantly striving to provide the highest quality food. The menu at Place Farm House is reviewed with residents with the seasons. We believe that the meals that are provided to the residents should be fresh and home-cooked rather than being ordered in ready-made. We obtain some of our meats and vegetables from local Sussex suppliers in an effort to support the local business community. We cater for all food preferences and offer a choice of options at lunch and supper times. Please Click Here to see our menu.

CARE PLANNING

In our evolution to becoming a "paperless" care home, the residents care plans and notes are logged electronically on an accessible but secure online system. This system provides relative's gateway access to view their loved one's care remotely, virtually on a "live" basis and we offer this as a service as soon as the elderly person moves into Place Farm House. This creates assurance, transparency and also improves the quality of care within the home with management and the owner's having remote access to manage and view the daily care of the residents and oversee the care which is being provided.

PERSONAL CARE

Personal care is a basic function of any care home, however, at Place Farm House the ethos of providing this with attention to detail so that our residents look and feel their best every single day.

Every resident has a key worker who knows in detail their preferences and traits. The greater personal attention also allows us to ensure any needs such as extra food or clothes are met quickly. In addition, we have a Welfare Champion whose responsibility it is to arrange small, but vital services such as Dental, eye and hearing and hospital/clinic appointments for residents, as well as joining up communication between staff and management. We feel this improves the service and care we provide.

Within the fees (for private paying residents) we include newspapers, all toiletries, chiropody services and weekly hairdressing which is unlike most other homes in the area who charge for these amenities as extra.

ACTIVITIES

Stimulation and enjoyment of the residents at Place Farm House is an important aspect of their daily life and to promote this, the home has daily afternoon activities in the communal areas. This varies from sing-along musicians, painting and exercises from external individuals to quizzes and cake decorating provided by our carer’s.

We are also enhancing the outings we provide for residents and have obtained use of a minibus to enable us to do this. We have had several outings to the Amex (Brighton & Hove) football stadium, wildlife sanctuaries and country park’s. We also have a monthly coffee trip to The Coach House coffee shop on the Old London Road in Patcham village.1
